All Facilities Open & Garbage Runs Normal for Presidents' Day
The federal government still calls it "Washington's Birthday" in honor of our first President, President George Washington, who was born this day in 1885! But the federal government does not recognize it as an official federal holiday and neither do we. So all Town facilities including Town Hall, the library and our recreation center are open as normal for business. All garbage, recycling and yard waste routes will run as normal this week. Thank you All Star!
NCDOT Update, Purchase of Land Near Town Hall, A Request from CAM and More on Monday's Agenda
At Monday's work session, the Clayton Town Council will hear updates on road and highway projects from an NCDOT engineer, consider purchasing land near The Clayton Center and hear a request from Clayton Area Ministries to help the local food bank find a new home. The Council will do all that and more – including setting public hearings for March 5 – so you don't want to miss it!

Long-Awaited Greenway Bridge Replacement Underway
The popular Clayton River Walk on the Neuse greenway took a hit during Hurricane Matthew. The floodwaters picked up and damaged the bridge near Marks Creek and Charleston Drive. We've now secured funding from FEMA and obtained environmental/safety approvals at the state level, so we’re able to finally demolish and remove the old bridge and install a brand-new steel one. Work is beginning and, if weather cooperates, the bridge should be ready for use in early March. The construction area will be completely blocked off to users of the greenway. Walkers, runners and bikers will NEED to use the detour. Click for map & details.
