Town of Clayton Water Tower at Sunset
Welcome the Town of Clayton, North Carolina

The Town of Clayton has offered free Electronics Recycling and Shredding events in the past and may plan one again, but in the meantime, Clayton residents have some great options to complete those spring cleaning chores!

Electronics Recycling

Your county is busy helping you save the planet by offering FREE electronics recycling for residents at the Johnston County Landfill and 12 Solid Waste Convenience Centers.  No trash decal is needed to recycle at any of their locations - you only need a decal for trash!  Depending on where you live in the Clayton area, there are two convenient drop-off locations.

Buffalo Road Convenience Center to the northeast, located at 15031 Buffalo Road and Barber Mill Convenience Center to the southwest, located at 369 Barber Mill Road.  Both are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Saturday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM from May 1 through September 30.  You can also use the Johnston County Landfill at 680 County Home Road in Smithfield.  It is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:45 PM, and on Saturday from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM. For more information on the free electronics recycling offered by Johnston County head to their website.

Best Buy at White Oak Crossing also offers FREE recycling of various electronics.  They take Tube TVs that are 32" or less, Flat Panel - LCD, Plasma, LED TVs that are 60" or less, and portable TVs.  Sorry no projections TVs of any size!  There's no need to call in advance, just go to Customer Service and tell them that you have a TV to recycle. For smaller items, you may bring them in to Customer Service to speed up the process.  For larger, bulky items they will dispatch an employee who will take it, slap on a recycle sticker and they will dispose of it properly. Click here for more information.

Staples, also in White Oak next to Target, offers FREE recycling of your old technology including computers, laptops, routers, hardware, ink cartridges and more.  They will take any brand, any condition, even if you purchased it elsewhere!  Click here for more information.

Want to make money?  Wise Recycling 1, formerly Source Recycling, is located on South Tech Park Lane off Pony Farm Road in front of Grifols. They will pay for items containing various metals and some electronic scrap.  They don't take TVs.  You need a photo ID, they weigh your stuff and you get paid for recycling!  The prices they pay per pound change every Tuesday.  Click here for more information.
