Town of Clayton Water Tower at Sunset
Welcome the Town of Clayton, North Carolina

Stock your garden, support Master Gardeners and pick up some tips Saturday, April 22

Looking to start a garden?

Get started at the annual Johnston County Master Gardeners' Plant Sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 22 at the Clayton Community Center, 715 Amelia Church Road.

Look for native plants, annuals, perennials, vegetables, herbs, house plants and more for sale, all grown by our local Master Gardeners! Trees and shrubs grown by local nurseries will also be on sale, along with a selection of handmade crafts and garden art.

Proceeds help the Master Gardeners fund community programing and outreach in local schools, pay for training and buy seeds for their teaching gardens – including their work at the community garden outside the Clayton Community Center.

The Master Gardeners donate much of the produce they grow to our local food bank, Clayton Area Ministries. In 2016, the Master Gardeners, their students and other volunteers at the Clayton Community Center garden were able to to donate 5,732 pounds of produce to Clayton Area Ministries!

The Master Gardeners will also lead a series of mini-classes throughout the sale. Topics include butterfly gardening at 9 a.m., native plants at 10 a.m., square-foot gardening at 11 a.m. and tomato growing at noon.

The Master Gardeners chose the Clayton Community Center to host their annual plant sale for the first time last year, and we are so pleased to welcome them back! Previous years' sales were held at the Johnston County Agricultural Center near Smithfield.
